V Light Hair Extensions Explained

V Light Hair Extensions

It’s no secret — hair extensions can totally transform your look, adding volume, length, color and more.

They’re versatile, beautiful, and the perfect way to achieve your hair goals. With so many types to choose from — tape-ins, hand-tied, keratin bonds — it’s easy to find the perfect match.

For a long time, Facetté has specialized in hand-tied extensions (still a favorite!), but recently we’ve started offering a new and innovative option:  V Light hair extensions.

These extensions provide the same gorgeous results, but they take a fresh approach to installation. We’re thrilled to be one of the first salons in Fort Collins to offer them.

So, what exactly are V Light hair extensions, and why should you consider them?

Let’s break it down.

What are V Light Hair Extensions?

Like any extension, V Light hair extensions use additional hair to create extra volume, length, or thickness. What sets them apart, however, is their ultra-lightweight design and innovative application method. These aspects alone make them ideal for finer hair types.

Using the same premium Coco Marie Hair Extensions that we use for our hand-tied installations, that blend seamlessly with your natural hair, offering a voluminous look without adding bulk. The key lies in the specialized weaving technique, which keeps the extensions secure while feeling incredibly light.

Applied using a specialized adhesive activated by a handheld curing light, the bond is lightweight, flexible, and nearly invisible. This means the extensions move naturally with your hair, eliminating the discomfort often associated with traditional hand-tied methods. With V Light hair extensions, you get the benefits of added hair without the weight, ensuring your look is as beautiful as it is effortless.

Understanding Your Options: V Light Hair Extensions vs. Hand-Tied Extensions

At Facetté, we’ve specialized in hand-tied hair extensions for years. These extensions will always remain a top choice for creating beautiful, natural looks without damaging your hair. But we’re excited about the unique benefits that V light hair extensions bring to the table.

So, how do V Light hair extensions compare to traditional hand-tied extensions? While both are fantastic options, there are a few key differences:

  1. Weight & Feel: V Light extensions are incredibly lightweight, perfect for those with fine or fragile hair. They provide volume without adding stress or bulk. Hand-tied extensions, though still lightweight, can feel fuller and slightly heavier due to the sewing method, making them better suited for medium to thick hair.
  2. Installation Method: V Light extensions use a specialized adhesive activated by a curing light, creating a flexible and secure bond that distributes weight evenly, causing minimal tension. Hand-tied extensions, meanwhile, are sewn into your natural hair using beads or thread, requiring a sturdy base and often feeling bulkier.
  3. Versatility: For thin or fragile hair, V Light extensions are ideal as they minimize stress on the scalp. Hand-tied extensions are better for thicker hair types due to the larger wefts and sewing method.
  4. Maintenance: Both V Light and hand-tied extensions require maintenance, but V Light extensions may need fewer adjustments due to their ultra-lightweight design. While hand-tied extensions typically require tightening every 6 to 8 weeks as your natural hair grows, V Light extensions may allow for a longer interval between adjustments, often extending to 8 to 12 weeks.

Whether you’re after subtle fullness or mermaid-like length, we’ve got you covered!

Why Choose V Light Hair Extensions?

If your hair tends to be thinner or finer, V Light hair extensions could be a dream come true. They add volume and length without the added weight that can sometimes come with traditional extensions. This makes them an excellent choice for achieving a natural, effortless look.

That said, hand-tied extensions are still a fabulous option for anyone with medium to thick hair looking for more volume or dramatic length.

For those seeking the best of both worlds, a combination of V Light and hand-tied extensions might be the perfect solution. You can use V Light extensions for thinner layers on top, creating a soft, natural finish, while opting for hand-tied extensions underneath for added volume and weight. Ultimately, choosing between the two—or combining them—comes down to your hair type and what feels best for you!
